Womenomics
The term "womenomics" has been coined to describe the huge shift in financial power, with the prediction that by 2020 women's pay will overtake men's. Women now own 48 per cent of Britain's wealth, a figure that's predicted to rise to 60 per cent by 2025, with similar figures predicted for America. Of Britain's millionaires, 46 per cent are female, with 24 per cent more women than men in the 18-44 age bracket.

Event Details
2015 marks a milestone for women's sport - for the first time ever the women's Oxford and Cambridge boat race teams will compete on the same stage as their male counterparts. As a precursor to this historic day, BNY Mellon and Newton Investment Management will be co-hosting an afternoon conference on Womenomics, exploring the increased participation of women in the financial and other sectors.
The event will be hosted by Curtis Arledge, CEO of BNY Mellon Investments, and will take place at the Ham Yard Hotel in London, on Wednesday 8 April 2015. Registration for the conference will begin at 12.45pm, and the presentations will commence at 1.30pm. The conference will then end at 5.30pm with a networking drinks reception.

Ham Yard is the newest addition to the Firmdale Hotels group, conveniently located a stone's throw from Piccadilly Circus.
It is home to a state-of the-art theatre, where the Womenomics event will take place.
The hotel's interior is designed by co-owner Kit Kemp in her award-wining modern British style.

Inspirational Women
Womenomics applies to an upcoming paradigm shift in the way individuals and companies approach work, due to an increase in the value of women in the workforce and changing attitudes of women towards priorities of balancing work and personal life. This concept is evident across the globe: from the increased number of female millionaires in the UK, to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s plans to increase female participation in the Japanese workforce.
Gender diversity is now an important item on the agenda for most large companies and is considered an important aspect of good corporate governance. As industry and business modernises, we will see more women in management roles and more women with improved spending power. Inspirational women through the centuries laid the foundations for today’s changes.
